Museum Photo Dump: MONA (Museum of Old and New)

I’ve been loving the “photo dump” trend on Instagram, where you basically just put together a collection of photos about a particular topic. Mostly weekends, holidays, a particular event or place. So I’ve decided to start a little series going back through my own collection of photos from different museums across the world. These will just be photos taken on my phone, so nothing professional here but I always love looking back on them so I thought I’d share the love here.

I’ve previously done The National Gallery of London, so check that out here. This post is on the Museum of Old and New (MONA) which I went to on Saturday. I went to Hobart, Tasmania with my boyfriend for his birthday weekend. The MONA was previously known as the Moorilla Museum of Antiquities, founded in 2001 and was closed to undergo renovations totally AUD$75 million. It reopened as the MONA in 2011. From the ground it looks like a one story building, but inside visitors walk down three levels of spiral stairs to star from the bottom and work their way back up to the ground again, seeing the art as they go.
